Edmonton Early Psychosis Intervention Clinic - Alberta Health Services

  • September 2022
  • Psychologist (II)
  • Specialized mental health clinic aimed at improving clinical and functional outcomes for individuals experiencing a first episode psychosis.
  • The multi-disciplinary team includes Psychiatry, Psychology/Neuropsychology, Mental Health Therapists, and Occupational Therapy.
  • Advanced clinical psychological assessment, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, clinical leadership and program development for complex client pathologies.
  • Creation and facilitation of a 24-session, 12-week CBT for Psychosis group treatment program for young adults.


Adult Brain Injury Outpatient (Major)

  • Mar – Aug 2022
  • Supervised by Dr. Norm Thoms, R. Psych (CAP #2914)
  • Intervention responsibilities include delivering individual empirically supported treatments for mental health issues (e.g., anxiety, depression) related to a brain injury.
  • Assessment responsibilities include participation in test selection, clinical interview, interpretation of test results, and integrated report writing for individuals referred to the Stroke Assessment Clinic.
  • Primary issues targeted are acquired brain injuries via trauma, stroke, Alzheimer’s, etc.


Forensic Adult Outpatient (Minor)

  • Mar – Aug 2022
  • Supervised by Debra Jellicoe, R. Psych (CAP #4101)
  • Intervention responsibilities include facilitation of the Provincial Family Violence Treatment Program’s 16-week men’s group for interpersonal violence and a 6-week men's group for trauma and resiliency.
  • Provided treatment also includes individual treatment with clients referred to Forensic Assessment and Community Services.
  • Primary issues targeted are criminal justice system involvement, mood disorders, personality disorders, and substance abuse.


Forensic Adult Inpatient (Major)

  • Sep 2021 – Feb 2022
  • Supervised by Dr. Andrew Haag, R. Psych (CAP #2734)
  • Assessment responsibilities included consultation, file review, collateral interviews, interviews, and integrated report writing related fitness to stand trial, not guilty on account of mental disorder (NCRMD), and Alberta Review Board annual reviews.
  • Primary issues targeted were bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, psychosis, personality disorders, substance-induced cognitive decline.


Pediatric Outpatient (Minor)

  • Sep 2021 – Aug 2022
  • Supervised by Dr. Heather Dyck, R. Psych (CAP #4766)
  • Intervention responsibilities included outpatient, family-based psychological intervention for children and youth (ages 7-17) on referral from pediatricians.
  • Primary issues targeted were adjustment to chronic illness, anxiety, depression, disruptive behavior, and parenting challenges.

  • Intervention responsibilities included providing brief structured interventions for common mental health challenges across British Columbia.

  • Intervention responsibilities include documenting and delivering a range of individual empirically-based therapy for complex mental health issues.

  • Assessment responsibilities included planning and preparing biopsychosocial assessments for pre- and post-disposition reports for court.


Psychological Assessment Basic Practicum – Senior Graduate Student

  • Supervised by Dr. Harry Miller, R. Psych (CPBC #1205).
  • Responsibilities included standardized administration of a variety of neuropsychological instruments and participation in test selection, clinical interview, test administration, interpretation of results, integrated report writing, and providing clinical feedback.
  • Responsibilities also included observing, training, and providing feedback to junior clinical colleagues in the above tasks.

  • Assessment responsibilities included administering and scoring the Clinician-Administered PTSD Scales for DSM-5 (CAPS-5).

Youth Forensics Psychiatric Services Advanced Practicum

  • Assessment responsibilities included planning of biopsychosocial assessments including interview, cognitive (e.g., WAIS-IV), personality, and other psychological assessment for pre- and post-disposition reports. 
  • Intervention responsibilities included delivering individual empirically-based therapy for violent offending, sexual offending, and other general mental health issues with criminally-involved youth.


Weight Watchers International Clinical Trial (Research)

  • Supervised by Dr. Lesley Lutes, R. Psych (CPBC #2205).
  • Responsibilities included conducting phone screens and randomization visits with study participants.

  • Worked with the Okanagan Centre for Autism Intervention. Provided Early Intensive Behaviour Intervention programming for children diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder; the programming incorporated both structured teaching and natural environment teaching.
